Review History: On the Cul de Sac Marin Bay in the Guadeloupe s French Department lies the Port of Pointe a Pitre on the Grande Terre island on the east Caribbean sea. On the River Salee s shores where it divides the line between Basse Terre and Grande Terre this is the biggest of the cities and Guadeloupe s capital. The port serves as a major port for both cargo and passengers being the commercial capital port of the Guadeloupe. de Jarry is the major seaport of cargo and is part of this port and located on the other side of the Cul de Sac Marin Bay. This also serves as the industrial zone and a center for commerce and light industry. The nearby suburb to this port is the Le Gosier and it is also a seaside resort. As of the year 1999, there were about 21,000 people living in this port with more than 171,000 part of the urban regions.
